At 14 years old, Khoi is more than just a teenager—he’s an emerging artist with a bright imagination and a growing passion. Born prematurely and living with epilepsy, Khoi has found a powerful voice through his art. His vivid drawings—ranging from colorful flags to imaginative game characters and fantasy worlds—are how he expresses himself and connects with the world around him.
His biggest cheerleader is his father, Mr. Hai, a construction worker whose income is often uncertain. At home, Khoi finds comfort and quiet strength from his mother, Mrs. Ly, who, despite being bedridden due to a nerve disorder, continues to be his emotional anchor.

“My drawings show my parents what I see in my mind,” Khoi says softly. “That makes them happy, so I’m happy too.”
Like many children, Khoi struggled to return to school after the disruptions caused by COVID-19. With his family’s support, he decided to stay home—and that’s when he discovered his love for drawing. Recognizing his son’s growing talent, Mr. Hai is now searching for a school that can nurture Khoi’s creative gifts. “I never imagined drawing could mean so much to him,” he reflects. “When I see him completely absorbed in his sketches, I understand this is how he connects with the world. I just want to give him every opportunity to thrive.”

Since May 2024, Khoi has been part of The Hope System of Care program, which supports his health and artistic development. The program helps cover medical expenses, ensuring Khoi stays well enough to pursue what he loves. Monthly financial assistance eases the burden on his family, allowing him to focus on his art.

The program also offers workshops and training for caregivers of children with disabilities. Mr. Hai actively takes part, gaining the tools he needs to better support his son’s journey.
“The knowledge we gain is so helpful,” he shares. “It’s practical advice that helps us care for our children while encouraging them to grow.”

Thanks to the continued support of Children of Vietnam, Khoi and his family are filled with hope. With access to the right opportunities, Khoi’s creativity will continue to flourish—one joyful sketch at a time.
