From Classroom to Career: Dat’s Inspiring Journey

Meet Dat, a recent graduate from the University of Science and Technology in Da Nang, now working as a Technical Specialist at THACO, one of Vietnam’s leading companies in mechanical engineering and automotive manufacturing. Even before completing his degree in Machine Production this summer, Dat had already secured a job, an incredible milestone made possible through five years of determination and support.

Dat grew up in a quiet village, where his mother, Mrs. Tien, worked tirelessly as a hired farmer, house cleaner, and laborer, doing whatever she could to keep him and his brother in school. From a young age, although accustomed to helping his mother with farm work, Dat was always fascinated by machines. He often tried to fix broken tools around the house, his curiosity driving him to tinker with anything mechanical he could find. That spark of interest gradually grew into a true passion for engineering, a passion that fueled his studies and strengthened his belief that education was his path forward.

Joining the Bright Scholars Program was a turning point in Dat’s university journey. The scholarship eased his family’s financial burden and connected him to a community of peers who, like him, were striving for a better future.

“I met other students like me, each with their own story of struggle and hope,” he said. “I was no longer just the quiet student from a rural village; I became part of a group of students working so hard to change our futures.”

Through leadership and personal development workshops, Dat gained confidence. He became more open, self-assured, and began to see himself not just as a student but as someone capable of making a difference in society.

Throughout university, he maintained a strong academic performance while actively engaging in sports and volunteer activities. He was also a dedicated cyclist in the annual Bike Ride, fundraising and awareness events organized by Children of Vietnam to lift children out of poverty. His enthusiasm and commitment made him a role model for younger Bright Scholars.

Today, with a promising career and a future full of possibilities, Dat is finally able to give his mother the peace of mind she deserves, allowing her to rest after years of hard work. His success is not only a personal achievement, but also a shared pride with everyone who believed in him.

“No matter how hard life was, I always believed my son would have a bright future,” said Mrs. Tien, Dat’s mother. “And today, I am overjoyed to see that belief come true.”

The road ahead may still be long, but Dat is ready. His journey is just beginning, with a warm smile and quiet determination lighting the way.
