When COV team first visited Hao Nhien’s home in June 2023, we were met with the heart-touching image of a small boy lying quietly on the floor, while his grandmother prepared milk for him. Born with cerebral palsy, Hao Nhien was unable to sit, walk, or care for himself. As a single mother working as a housemaid, Hao Nhien’s mother relied heavily on his grandmother to care for him during her long hours away.

In August 2023, Hao Nhien joined COV’s Hope System of Care program. Together with his family, COV created an individualized plan to support his needs. He began receiving physical therapy at home three times a week, and COV also helped cover the costs of his epilepsy medication. Both his mother and grandmother remained deeply devoted to him, taking him on walks and providing him with abundant love and care.

In just one year, Hao Nhien’s progress has been remarkable—he has even taken his first steps. Although he is temporarily unable to speak, his future now looks much brighter.
“Hao Nhien is now happier, more alert, and less sick than before. I am truly happy to see him getting better day by day,” said Mrs. Pham Thi Hien, Hao Nhien’s mother.
