Being born in 2013 as a normal child like others and living with his mother in his grandparents’ house, Truong witnessed an insufficient childhood without the image of his father. Living expenses have been burdened solely on his mother’s shoulders, even though working tirelessly at a factory is not enough, especially when her son has a severe illness.
Their life took a drastic turn when he had a high fever and was diagnosed with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, a condition that left him with partial paralysis. This illness has not only limited his physical mobility but also plunged the whole family into deeper financial strain.

At a young age, Truong went through two surgeries to fight spinal cord issues and underwent plasmapheresis twice. These procedures caused countless pains in his body and imposed a substantial financial burden on the family, which is already vulnerable. Fate hasn’t stopped at that point; Truong is facing kidney stones, making his condition worse.

All pressure and difficulties poured out on the mother, seeing his son witnessed with pain, losing a bright future ahead, and not going to school like normal, she suffered in hopelessness and wished that she could replace him to endure. Yet, COV has brought them a new hope, accompanying them in the journey to fighting with fate. Recognizing Truong’s struggles, COV has provided him with in-need healthcare support. In order to regain physical ability which is important to bring him back to normal life and improve his life quality, COV has covered all the costs for his rehabilitation process.

Thanks to this support, Truong has successfully recovered and being able to back to school after a long period of pausing.
“I feel much happier than before because now I can run, go to school, talk to friends, and, best of all, I don’t have to have surgery anymore. Surgery is very painful.” – Truong said.
